Also add Mark 1:35-39 to this reading. Isn't it interesting that Jesus keeps saying, "Don't tell anyone what I've done for you." And then they "blaze it abroad" (KJV) they tell everybody.
Why do you think Jesus tells them not to tell anyone what He did?

My boys want me to ask you pastor why this is? It is something that has always perplexed me also. As a christian we always believe that God wants us to freely share everything that He has done for us. My boys believe that it was simply because He didn't want to be thought of in a celebrity fashion, and that is really the only reason I can think of as well! Can anyone help to shed some more light on it for us?

I believe the reason for Jesus not wanting those who were healed to tell others is that He knew the chaos it caused. Every time someone goes and spreads word about their healing in these passages, huge crowds go to Jesus. He is not able to go into the cities or teach in their synagogues because of the overwhelming number of people. He is forced into the desert, and even then the crowd is so big that he has to launch out in a boat from the shore so He could teach them. Jesus wanted them to believe because He is the Son of God, not just because He can do miracles.
