Just a couple things to think about as we read.
1. Did Jesus have other disciples than the twelve?
2. When Jesus read in the synagogue in his home town how was their initial reaction different from their final response?
I found it interesting that they heard him speak graciously. They enjoyed hearing about the fulfilling of the prophecy for Messiah. They were angered that their own unbelief was called out. They tried to throw Jesus off a cliff. He miraculously walked right through them. This account shows God the Father's protection on Jesus until the time was right.
