Look for the subtle differences in the account of Jesus being tempted. Each author provides a little different detail that helps us understand all that is taking place.
What does it mean that the angels ministered to Jesus?
Have a wonderful day!

I am always impressed with the scriptures that foretold His coming. This truly is the Son of God!
ReplyDeleteI never notice before that Matthew and Luke swap the last two temptations. Matthew placed the temptation of the kingdoms of the world last I'm assuming because he wrote about Jesus as King. Luke, writing about Jesus as savior, instead described last the temptation of allowing the angles to save Him from falling to the earth.
ReplyDeletePastor, or anyone, any insights into why Mark gives no details of this event?
Mark gives a general statement about this when he says that He was in the wilderness forty days tempted by the Devil and then ministered to by the angels. God gives us different perspective from each Gospel. We will see this more and more. One other thing about Jesus in the wilderness according to Mark is that He was with the wild beasts.
ReplyDeleteMark is portraying Christ as the Son of God, Matthew more the Son of David. If you notice Matthew and Mark give Geneologies but Mark doesn't. I think this is Mark's emphasis that Jesus is the Son of God.
Matthew and Luke give geneologies. Sorry.
