People thought John was the Messiah because of this radical message. The Kingdom of Heaven was so close the people could touch it.
John spoke with authority, so much so that he called Herod's relationship with his brother's wife, "SIN". What a man.
I could not imagine being the one who baptized Jesus. What an honor and privilege. I imagine John had as much wonder in that moment and maybe more, than when the priest (his father was one) would stand in the temple and offer sacrifice.
As we think about character traits that we would like to have what are some that John exhibits that you would like to own?

It seems that John was comfortable in his role of authority but at the same time he showed such humility in the presence of Jesus. I like this about his character, I think those 2 traits would be difficult to maintain and he seems to do that in an honorable way. He honors God in this way!
ReplyDeleteThat is a really good observation.
